Experience two of the world’s most spectacular hiking destinations in one unforgettable journey. From the fjords of Norway to the volcanic highlands of Iceland, this adventure is crafted especially for seasoned nature lovers and active travelers over 40 who seek both challenge and comfort.

Hike along dramatic cliffs, stand atop world-famous viewpoints like Trolltunga, Pulpit Rock, and Kjeragbolten, and cross the legendary Fimmvörðuháls Trail between glaciers in Iceland. Along the way, enjoy cozy Scandinavian cabins, hearty local cuisine, and the camaraderie of like-minded walkers.

Part I: The Launchpad: Oslo & The Road to the Fjords

Day 1 – July 20th: Arrive in Oslo

  • Welcome to Norway! Arrive at Oslo Airport, where you’ll be transferred to your central hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore this beautiful Nordic capital — wander along the harbourfront at Aker Brygge, visit the Vigeland Sculpture Park, or enjoy a coffee in a charming café.

 

  • Accommodation: Comfort Grand Hotel, Oslo (2 Nights)

Day 2 – July 21st: Explore Oslo 

  • A free day to discover Oslo at your own pace. You might visit the Fram Polar Ship Museum, admire art at the Munch Museum, or stroll the modern Barcode District.
    Tonight, gather with your fellow adventurers for a Welcome Dinner hosted by your guide — the perfect way to kick off your Scandinavian journey.

Day 3 – July 22nd: Scenic Drive to Flåm

  • Journey through the heart of Norway’s breathtaking fjord country. Stop for photo breaks along mountain passes and mirror-like lakes before arriving in Flåm, nestled at the end of the Aurlandsfjord.

 

  • Accommodation: Flåm Cabins (2 Nights)

Day 4 – July 23rd: The Flåm Railway & Myrdal–Flåm Hike

  • Today begins with a spectacular ride on the world-famous Flåm Railway, one of Europe’s steepest train journeys, climbing from sea level to the mountain station of Myrdal.

  • Hike: Myrdal to Flåm

    • Distance: 20 km (mostly downhill)

    • Duration: 5–6 hours

    • Highlights: Alpine meadows, waterfalls, and fjord views

​​

  • Descend the lush Flåmsdalen Valley on foot, following an old pack trail past cascading waterfalls, traditional farmhouses, and rushing rivers. The trail is scenic and steady, ideal for active hikers who love a rewarding full-day walk. Return to your cabin and enjoy the serenity of fjord-side living.

Day 5 – July 24th: Drive to Odda – Gateway to Trolltunga

  • Continue through the fjordlands to Odda, a picturesque town surrounded by glaciers and waterfalls. Rest up for tomorrow’s legendary adventure.

 

  • Accommodation: Odda Cabins (2 Nights)

Day 6 – July 25th: Trolltunga Hike – “The Troll’s Tongue”

  • One of Norway’s most iconic and exhilarating hikes.

  • Hike: Trolltunga

    • Distance: 27 km round trip

    • Elevation Gain: 800 m

    • Duration: 8–10 hours

​​

  • Highlights: Panoramic fjord views, dramatic cliffs, photo atop Trolltunga. ​Start early and follow the trail through alpine plateaus and rocky ridges to Trolltunga, a jaw-dropping rock ledge jutting 700 metres above Ringedalsvatnet Lake. The view from the top is pure magic - a must-do for any hiker.

  • Return to Odda for a well-deserved rest and a hearty meal.

Day 7 – July 26th: Drive to Stavanger

  • Travel south through dramatic fjord country to Stavanger, a lively coastal city blending maritime charm and modern culture. Stroll the cobbled streets of Old Stavanger or relax by the harbour.

  • Accommodation: Comfort Square Hotel, Stavanger (2 Nights)

Day 8 – July 27th: Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) Hike

  • A Norwegian classic and one of the most photographed spots in the world.

​​

  • Hike: Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen)

    • Distance: 8 km round trip

    • Elevation Gain: 350 m

    • Duration: 4–5 hours

​​

  • Highlights: Panoramic view over Lysefjord

  • A moderately challenging hike through forest and rocky terrain leads to Preikestolen, a spectacular plateau 604 metres above Lysefjord. The view is absolutely unforgettable - a perfect reward for your efforts.

Day 9 – July 28th: Ferry & Drive to Lysebotn

  • Enjoy a scenic ferry journey through Lysefjord, surrounded by sheer cliffs and waterfalls, before arriving in Lysebotn, a remote and peaceful fjord village.

 

  • Accommodation: Lysebotn Cabins (2 Nights)

Day 10 – July 29th: Kjeragbolten Hike

  • The ultimate thrill! Today’s hike takes you high above the fjord to the legendary Kjeragbolten — a massive boulder wedged between two cliffs.

  • Hike: Kjeragbolten

    • Distance: 12 km round trip

    • Elevation Gain: 800 m

    • Duration: 6–8 hours

  • Highlights: Mountain views, fjord panoramas, Kjerag Boulder

​​

  • For the brave, stand atop the boulder for an unforgettable photo — a true badge of adventure. Even without the rock, the sweeping views across Lysefjord are spectacular.

​Day 11 – July 30: Return to Oslo

  • Travel back to Oslo through stunning mountain scenery, reflecting on your incredible Norwegian adventure.

 

  • Accommodation: Comfort Grand Hotel, Oslo

Day 12 – July 31st: Fly to Reykjavik

  • Fly from Oslo to Reykjavik, Iceland’s colourful capital. The evening is free to explore the city’s lively restaurants and harbourside charm.

 

  • Accommodation: Centre Hotel, Reykjavik

Day 13 – August 1st: Drive to Skógar

  • Drive along Iceland’s spectacular south coast, stopping to admire waterfalls such as Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, before arriving in the tiny village of Skógar, the starting point for tomorrow’s legendary trail.

 

  • Accommodation: The Garage Guesthouse, Skógar

Day 14 – August 2nd: Skógar to Þórsmörk Hike

  • Embark on one of Iceland’s most breathtaking adventures: the Skógar to Þórsmörk hike, a legendary trail that leads you from the thundering Skógafoss waterfall to the lush valley of Þórsmörk, the “Valley of Thor.”

​​

  • Hike: Skógar to Fimmvörðuháls Hut

    • Distance: 25 km

    • Elevation Gain: 1,000 m

    • Duration: 6–7 hours

​​

  • Highlights: 26 waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, glacier views

​​

  • Follow a trail alongside Skógá River, passing countless waterfalls before ascending into the highlands. Cross the volcanic plateau between the Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers to your remote mountain hut.

Day 15 – August 3rd: The Tindfjöll Circle Hike  Þórsmörk

  • The Tindfjöll Circle hike is one of the most beautiful in the Thórsmörk region, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Tindfjöll peaks and other incredible scenery in Thórsmörk.

  • Hike: The Tindfjöll Circle Hike  Þórsmörk

    • Distance: 10 km

    • Duration: 4–5 hours

 

  • Highlights: Contrasting landscapes, lava formations, glacier views. Take a short transfer back to Skógar for a relaxing evening.

  • Accommodation: The Garage Guesthouse, Skógar

Day 16 – August 4th: Hot Springs & Farewell Dinner

  • Return to Reykjavik with a stop at Iceland’s famous geothermal hot springs — a chance to soak, unwind, and celebrate your journey. In the evening, enjoy a Farewell Dinner with your group.

 

  • Accommodation: Centre Hotel, Reykjavik

Day 17 – August 5th: Farewell and Departure

  • Transfer to Keflavik Airport for your onward flight home, taking with you incredible memories of fjords, waterfalls, glaciers, and the friendships forged on the trail.
